We were discussing our new Casino in the CLE forum. Thought I'd start a discussion about it "out here" since there will be 3 more opening around the state.

I went to ours. It is very nice and I am happy it is here.

Just wanted to start a discussion on them at the "State Level".

Thought? Comments? Opinions?

Well, I'm not a gambler but if it creates some decent jobs for the folks in the areas, then I see nothing wrong with them. People are going to spend their money on gambling or any other gaming devices, I mean look at the lottery and other such ways that the different states have to try and make a little extra money. Nobody's forcing anybody to go into these casinos, it's a choice and if that's a choice you want to make, so be it and maybe the state will make a little bit of money out of it in the long run also.

Hmm. Surprised there aren't more comments.
I expect Toledo folks are most accepting. As Detroit is so close to them.

It'll be interesting to see how well the casinos in Ohio do...I really believe that Cleveland has a strong advantage over the others....Once Phase II is built here in Cleveland it well put the others to shame hands down..The only other casino I could see myself visiting other often is Cincinnatti. Columbus and Toledo are stand off and it'll take years for things to developed around their casino

i was surprised to see that the columbus casino will be the largest..perhaps not being downtown gives more land etc ..i suspect that the columbus casino may be the most successful long term.also being on the west side off i 70 makes it an easier drive for many in the dayton area than the cincy casino.

I'm wondering how long it's going to be until the religious zealots start picketing Cincinnati's casino? That should be interesting.

Eh, isn't Columbus' casino in a very suburban part of the city? Perhaps that's more attractive to the older crowd, but it seems rather yawn-inducing to me. Although it is fitting given Columbus' style of growth over the past century or so.

LOL...I actually find old people fun. They typically smell interestingly, which is different.

I meant that I find suburban development boring. On the other hand, most of the 50&up crowd seems to like it. That might explain the mass migration of elderly Ohioans to bland southern suburbia.

The migration is occurring in every age group, but there's no denying that the elderly have been moving down south for decades.

Uncyclopedia has a few words on the topic:

Also, it is the country's largest retirement home, filled with all of the North's unwanted senior citizens. ...They are shipped to Florida by loving family members in the hopes that the next hurricane will kill them. The rest of the population is made up of rednecks and rich people who cannot handle the cold. The tension between rednecks and Northerners is quite prominent, and the rednecks are quick to assert their status as the "real" Floridians. According to their definition of a real Floridian, one must: be born in Florida, enjoy a good monster truck rally, know how to hunt and fish, swim with manatees, and regularly wrestle alligators. Membership in the KKK is preferrable, but not absolutely necessary in all areas.
