Yep, Gretchen. This guy Dan Sheehy is a brave man. Electing Ron Paul will help put off the NAU for a few years and give time for more truth to be told, but one politician can not save this nation from greed and socialism. These people are patient and calculated. Every one of us needs to wake up and start living in a way that is helping rather than hurting our Big family.

Wow. NE Pennsylvania is a very busy subforum for a state. I'm jealous. Well, just thought I'd drop by and say hello...

Hi Metro! Thanks for stopping by to pay us a visit! (Thanks also for living in a state that voted for Obama over Hillary, but I'll leave that for another discussion! LOL!)

Yes, we do have a very, very busy sub-forum. I still remember when I petitioned for its creation in mid-2007 and there were a lot of people "leery" that our region needed to have one. Now I can do this to them!

We still don't put a dent into the amount of traffic the NC forum receives though. I don't think I'll ever understand why NC has become the next FL in terms of being a real estate hot spot---I can think of so many other areas I'd rather live than Raleigh (like...errm....SCRANTON!)

SWB - Most of NC would not want to live in Raleigh either! But one of the reasons I like NC is that the temp is 49 degrees outside now. What is it in Pittston?

HA! I didn't mean to knock NC by any means. I just don't understand the "hype." When you go onto the boards of many other state forums everyone talks about NC like it's Disney World and chocolate-drizzled cheesecake combined into one wonderful treat! Is it really THAT awesome? I hate to say this, but I hope NC "cools" soon so that I can have more luck smacking these folks with my pom-poms to get them to move to NEPA.

If I hadn't had a bad experience with Penn Estates and my boss hadn't invited me down to NC for a visit, living in the Scranton area would have been a very logical and practical solution to the high cost of NJ. I also wonder sometimes, why the NC forum is soo.. huge. NC is very nice but it's not a panacea for everyone. Many of the posters, myself included keep telling potential newcomers not to come without a firm job offer. You would think from the Charlotte forum that Charlotte has an endless number of good-paying jobs, but that is not true by any means. The Charlotte metro region is dwarfed by comparison to the NY Metro area. Some people refuse to listen though and I'm sure that there are more than a few people that leave Charlotte and NC in general very disappointed!

We're a balmy 34 degrees with a steady rain. This morning we had a suprise moderate freezing rain storm (meteorologists didn't think the temperature was going to drop as much as it did) that caused a lot of pile-ups during the morning rush. I myself was "sliding" as I tried to navigate the sidewalks around campus in Wilkes-Barre. It was eerie to occasionally flip on my wipers and see slush get squished onto the sides of my windshield!

Actually for this time of night 34 is balmy for Pittston. And you guys keep getting our much needed rain. If the drought continues in the same vein as it did last year the NC & AZ forums will be merged and I'll be growing cactus! What happened a few minutes ago? The server got too busy? Must be all the CA yakkers!

City schools have a responsibility to educate the students. It's their job. The teachers are paid with tax dollars, too. Why should this be any different than ESL teachers or translators, if the school needs them? Many LEGALS--Hispanic, Asian, European--cannot speak English either. And how does an illegal go about registering for school?
Yes, I pretty much just shared one. I asked the police, since you admittedly, cannot do anything further, can I be prosecuted if I investigate, and get the guilty party to identify the driver. The Police Sargent said go ahead. So I did, and received satisfaction myself.

Yes Hospitals have to treat anyone who shows up at their door. And you and I foot the bill. How deep are your pockets?

It's our tax dollars that pay for the teachers. Asian, European, and Eastern European adopted to the English language when they come and when they came. Thier goal was to fit into society. The school did not adapt to the language, the language adapted to the school.

I will help anyone that I see in need. The problem that is here, and is developing further, without objection, is that you and I are paying for these changes, without being asked. I don't have that much money. I hope you do.
