I had an interview for a civil service job in Scranton back in December. I was told they were hiring in the middle of January and I would hear something in about 3 weeks. It's been exactly 3 weeks (well, 3 weeks and 2 days) and I've heard nothing.

My questions to anyone that has any experience in this area:

1. Do they notify you if you do not get the job?
2. If you did/did not get the job - how were you notified? Phone, mail, email?

Thanks!

If you don't hear from them and want to avoid the same awkward situation in the future simply ask the interviewer if it is ok to call if you do not hear in their set time frame. If they say "no" there is a good chance that they were not serious about hiring you in the first place. If they are serious about hiring you they should be happy to have you check back.

Good luck with this job and I hope that they do get back. Don't forget that many companies were thinking weekend and not worried about notifying potential new hires.
