Hello we are thinking about moving from Queens, NY to the Poconos. It seems more affordable then NY if we want to own our own home. We have children ages 13, 6, 4, 2 so we would like a great neighborhood with good elementary schools and high schools. My husband works near the Bronx so something not to far in the Poconos. Thanks

Your probably looking in the East Stroudsburg area then. It is the closest to rt 80 tough commute during rush hour. Then expand your search from there depending on what your looking for. Going north a little it is very nice, more spread out but less expensive. Up Bushkillfalls road is what appears to be a new large school. Most homes in that area are part of private communities. Depending on amenities will depend on what your comfortable with. For example alot have gates to access, some people like it my community has no such gate which i enjoy.

Check into Milford, Dingmans Ferry, and Shohola....those areas are in the Delaware Valley SD...which is generally thought of as the best district in the area. Very high academic achievement and good extracurricular options.

you might also want to check out Cresco, Canadensis, Mountainhome...about 20 mins from the DWG, township taxes are a bit cheaper than Stroud Twp., Bushkill area is nice but 1 2 lane roat, Rt. 209 and it can get pretty backed up.
