I am a fan of golf (on television only), and I noticed that the US Open will be at the Pinehurst #2 course this year. It will be from June 13 to 16, 2024. Tiger Woods has said he will be playing. The official ticket site is here if anyone wants to view it in person:

There's also some history and hype here:

I get excited because some of the class one railroads might be
sending their office car specials there?

That is a good tip. Amtrak has a stop in Southern Pines.

Amtrak ran a test version of that train today (5-30-24). When they run
it during the open it will have the ACWR Summit View car in the mix as well.
It should make for some nice photo oops. What is going to be interesting is
what happens when Amtrak P092 is late like he usually is? He was over an hour
late this morning and the US Open train had to sit in the sitting in Moncure for an
hour waiting on him. Here is the test version they ran today. They ran it under the
symbol P873. ACWR has done a lot of work for the US Open and will have a setup
there as well of some kind. I really hope the other class ones will run their OCS but
I haven't heard anything yet?
