Or make a Nid Hudson forum, as the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown metro area is a separate area and is a top 100 metropolitan area in terms of population. You could include the Kingston metro area into that forum, as well as the Catskills. That would cover an area of about 1 million people or so.
A sub for the 7 downstate counties would cover it.
That would be all the bedroom & playground counties for the city people.
Westchester, Sullivan, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Ulster & Dutchess.

I only say to go with Mid Hudson, because Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties(which should be the full name of the Westchester forum) are in the NYC metro area.
Orange and Dutchess counties form the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown MSA and Ulster County is what makes up the Kingston MSA. This doesn’t include Sullivan County either. So, they are actually separate areas and includes a top 100 MSA in population.
The Westchester forum should be combined/expanded into a Hudson Valley sub.
That is what I am thinking.
Obviously, there will be times when someone, say is looking for a house in Westchester/Rockland and someone starts mentioning places near Albany or even Glen Falls, which are nowhere near Westchester. This is probably why the Westchester forum has not expanded yet.
But I do think there is enough connectivity in the valley where many people can relate. For instance, people from Westchester, Orange, Ulster and Dutchess may all be interested in posts about farms in the fall or visiting West Point or skiing in the winter or going to the Catskills, etc.

Yeah I think those counties are all interchangeable.
Westchester may be a little different but I think basically it’s the same people looking for the same things in those counties. They’re all close enough to the city/metro for easy vacationing, day tripping, 2nd, or even primary homes for city slickers. Just as easy if not easier access then the Hamptons. And aside from Westchester, housing is generally more affordable than eastern LI.
