Hi, I am looking for a room in nyc. I found the galaxy motel. I called and they said that i did not have to reserve the room because they always have available rooms (Is that good?). the room is on pennsylvania avenue. The guy said that the rooms are $110. He mentioned free parking, free calls within the u.s., he also mentioned free wi-fi. This sounds pretty good. Does anyone know if the rooms are any good. And how about the neighborhood?

You can also reserve a room there for $55 for 4 hours...so you can imagine what kinds of people are in and out of there. Check street view on google maps - the area is completely deserted with storage facilities etc. your only neighbors.

Well, except for your 4,000 neighbors in the 19 buildings of the Linden Houses, which is a housing project. Linden Houses

Transportation into Manhattan would be difficult to say the least, unless you plan on driving and even then...

On the other hand, there are a couple of positive reviews of it on tripadvisor, but I am always suspicious of people who give 5 stars to a sh&t motel in a poor area of Brooklyn when it is the only review they have ever written on tripadvisor. Either they are fakes or these are people who have never gone anywhere and think this type of place is nice!

Try hotels in Queens instead. Your budget is kind of low for a hotel in NY which is why you are finding places like Galaxy, but if you up your budget a bit you could stay in Queens right near Manhattan.

Here is a review for one place, plus it lists three others nearby if you page down.

WOW, thanks Henna. I did see the reviews on TripAdvisor, and it did receive a few 5-stars. So I decided to come to the forum to consult with the NYC experts. I guess that is a s**t neighborhood.

OMG. East New York sounds awful. I checked google map street view and the area does not look as bad as people say. I guess google maps does'nt show the thugs, prostitutes, and murders.
