When letter boxes are removed from in front of post office.

On way out friend wanted to mail something and so we swung by Gracie Station USPS. Lo and behold no letter boxes! Hahaha. Happily place was still open so quick detour solved issue. Asked what happened to letter boxes and response pretty much blamed situation on mail theft/check washing.

mail theft is beyond terrible.

check frauds are beyond terrible as well, to the point where they will steal our checks that are to be mailed to our vendors and then the check (s) are altered to a persons name, thus being cashed.

we have narrowed it down to the post office in Brooklyn, even if they are mailed in a different neighborhood in Brooklyn, check theft still happened.

we now have our checks mailed from jersey, as one of our workers takes the mail home and mails from the post office in another state, can you imagine? this is what we have to do now to avoid check theft.

simply sickening.

I've given up using mailboxes. Been going to a nearby PO in lower Westchester to drop off mail inside their PO.

^ Not according to our moderator, he’ll tell you it’s always been like this. Oh, and also if you don’t do something about it, you shouldn’t be talking about it here (according to him).

Anybody ever met this poster? What’s the motivation beyond being oppositional?

I have had three bill payments go missing in less than five years with one confirmed stolen and altered but not cashed. (I had a stop payment on it.) Two of the three missing bill payments were dropped in a mailbox in front of a post office. I now try to mail every bill payment inside the post office.

Supposedly there is a universal key that opens all mailboxes and thieves have them so the USPS needs to change that.

Why are people still mailing checks?

Online bill payment has been the greatest gift IMHO.

Don't really care for mail at all but I'm tired of companies that I already said NO to physical notices but they will keep sending it out.

For example all summons, government, and mortgage will still mail out notices by mail.

The main problem with theft is that no crime and punishment for it.
