This is why we dont go to city to hang out with kids even though we loved going before.
When a tragedy strikes, its not we the people, life goes on for everyone but you and your loved ones.
You are forgotten in a NY minute.

Yeah, but murder now almost never happens in NYC (per your other thread), so why worry about stuff like this, right?

I've taken my kid to this park and playground many times.

People just getting wilder again. It is a shame.

This place was my jam like 1 decade/half ago.
I remember when it was a huge cardboard city in there

I've been in and out of Ubers by that park to and from work meetings in the area and I've never felt unsafe. This happening in broad daylight... Crazy.

I honestly haven't been in that area for about five years, but there are a few restaurants nearby that I had planned on patronizing when it warms up. I may re-think that now. The craziness was usually isolated to the hood areas. That area had become a lot safer over the years, so much so that I've been in coffee shops over there without any concern and I've left work meetings later on in the evening - 9pm, 10pm, etc., grabbing an Uber or taxi and not feeling unsafe waiting literally across the street from that park.

Maybe because the area isn’t a rough neighborhood per say, but residents seem to be on edge as of late. The following article is not even a year old.

The Tompkins Square Park may look nice, but it has an issue with druggies and even a guy walking his dog there was groped… twice by the same person in the same day!
