In that circumstance it probably was a good thing they didn't. The attackers could had taken the gun away from their hands, shoot at both cops and then steal the gun.
There might had been a languge barrier, though more details are needed to see if this was the case. If the attackers didn't know much English and the cops Spanish, then whatever is said by either party will be "lost in translation" so to speak.

Biden unilaterally dismantled various Trump policies that were having a real impact on border crossings, to include the Remain In Mexico policy and border wall, and is on record as being against people getting deported or arrested simply for crossing the border illegally. Funny, Biden has no problem choosing to use executive action to try to buy votes via loan forgiveness but suddenly doesn’t know the word when it comes time securing the border
