Apparently these illegals try to jump in front of your car and then demand money. Be careful driving around Brooklyn. If it looks fishy and you touch one of them, put the hammer down and east bound and down or up out of there.
This is why blocking or removing the plate off your car is very helpful in this day and age. No need to be on cameras. If police pulls you over, say you forgot to put them on, get a warning or a ticket at worst.
crazy idea …you better be very wealthy to keep paying those tickets for an event that may never happen as well as likely getting the car impounded.
in 2022 1,100 cars were towed for “covered or obstructed” plates.
nypd for 2023
Last year we issued 258,000 summonses to vehicles with covered or obstructed plates, arrested nearly 4200 drivers for forged or altered plates, and seized 7,520 cars that had fraudulent paper plates or were parked illegally illegally while displaying a temporary paper plate," Pilecki said. "So far this year, we've already issued over 130,000 summonses to vehicles with covered or obstructed plates, arrested 1,777 drivers for forged or altered plates, and towed over 1,100 vehicles this year for obstructed or covered plates."

How much is the summons? $150?
Judging by how many people drive with peeled plates or covered, tinted plated covers, I think it’s a huge deal. But then again, I don’t take laws too seriously anyhow.
not if it never happens to you and you get bagged over and over.. not to mention the costs of running someone over with your car.
kill them or severely injure them and they can track you down plates visible or not , they always do when they want to put the effort in . 500 bucks is a deal
