What is your favorite Mexican restaurant in Manhattan that has some ambiance?
Not a place that's mainly takeout or a total hole in the wall
Any Manhattan location is fine, not looking for anything in the outer boroughs this time.
I've been to a few good Mexican/taco places on the LES (Casa Mezcal and Barrio Chino) and to Dos Caminos in the Meatpacking District. All of those were pretty good. I've also been to Tacombi which was ok but I didn't love it.
Went to another Mexican restaurant yesterday. Not my choice. They all taste the same to me, way overpriced and overhyped.
Tried everything from mom and pop dumps to high end joints. All the same. High end manhattan places at least make it look and taste richer than they ever were designed to be.

Mexicans live in the outer boroughs and that's where the best Mexican food are.
