seniority wise? You'd be the bottom of this class or the top of the next but if you're in this class then you have every single person in September beat

Why are job schedules so inconsistent in this job? Is it that hard to have set shifts in the garage?

They're inconsistent because seniority decides everything.

So the senior guys want to stay steady. Imagine there's 20 guys. There are 5 6-2 shifts, 1 8-4 shift, 2 4-12 shifts, and 4 midnight shifts.....thats 12 shifts. The other guys rotate by being off or going out of town. Imagine the same guys working the same shift. Wednesday one of the 4pm guys is off...you go there. Next day the 8am guy is off. Well the midnight guys and 6am guys want to stay where they are. The other 4pm guy doesn't want to come back in 8 hours so you're coming back at 8am. Now the next day one of the midnight guys is off. The 6am and 4pm guys don't want it...so you go there.

Essentially you're bouncing around covering days off for the guys who regularly work those shifts
