You're 40 minutes from the gateway to New Jersey's largest state forest! This is exactly what I mean. It reminds me of an adjunct professor I had for a New Jersey history course in college (it was terrible). His summation of the Pinelands was "The area you pass through on the Parkway on the way to the shore that looks like the land that time forgot."
Growing up in Hamilton I had never taken the Parkway to the shore in my life (and still don't-I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon) and had always taken 539 through the Pines and stopped in various places on the way, etc... That's when I began to realize where the real dividing line(s) in NJ was.
