Hey guys - I've been MIA !

I am close to rescuing an adorable 11 month old poodle that I've fallen completely in love with! I have not had a pet in a while and I'm very excited. I'm working with the rescue folks, who are in PA.

I am speaking to some vets I know locally to see who I like and all...

what I was curious about is this.. I want to get pet insurance. Anyone have any reccomendations on this? There is a lot out there on the web but I want to make sure it is a reputible company. Its funny because I'm in the benefits field, but my base is HUMANS so I'm lost now with ANIMALS! LOL!

Any advice is appreciated!

Can't help you there, as most of my friends are only insuring livestock (horses) here in FL.

Vets may be able to refer you somewhere, though.

Default Consumer reports

I was just reading a copy of my fav. mag. Consumer Reports. They said Pet Insurance is a rip off. Sorry I don't have the whole story for ya.

I'm so glad I did as he has had to have numerous costly vet/specialist visits. They have paid up without question every time.

Ummm... My family had 2 great poodles over the years. The first was a standard poodle/wild hair terrier mix. She came from a neighbor and was a dream pet for my parents. I was very young so unfortunately don't remember her.

Our second poodle was a miniature from a pet store. He was a dream dog for us kids. Unfortunately he had been in the pet store system for 6 months, although they said 3 when they sold him. Anyway, he had some issues that I have heard are very common w/ male poodles. The biggest thing was that he never really fully got house trained.... I used to call him P**S King.

He was smart as a whip so we always thought it was some emotional or controlling type issue.

We had him about 14 years and more than 10 years later I still miss him and talk about him a lot.

I know this wasn't your question but kind of wanted to give you a heads up warning in case you want or need to consult a trainer.

Lots of luck as you will get more love than you'll ever need from your new pal.
