I currently live in Manalapan and plan on moving within the next year. Although there are positives to my town, I can't get over just how "showy" the crowd is here and prefer to be around people who do not need to flash a new car when they do not have furniture in their living room. (Sorry to those of you here that do not fit into this description, but this is the majority of the people I've interacted with here)

I would like to stay in Monmouth or Ocean County. I'm looking for more of a community/town feel, excellent schools, family friendly area. I have done some research and Fair Haven seems like a great choice.

Any first hand experience with Fair Haven?

Also, would love to hear any other suggestions as well.

Thanks

I've got long time friends of my parents who've lived in Fair Haven for 40 years and absolutely love it. I've been there many times and it's a great little town, and nearby Red Bank has really transformed...the only possible negative I could foresee is high house prices..

You might have to downsize on the property size-depending on where you look and your price range. Fair Haven seems to be a lovely area with great schools. I never heard any negatives on the area.

I've lived in Fair Haven for 12 years, am a Realtor here and have two kids in the schools. LOVE IT! The best of everything...small town, great small almost-like-private schools, walk to everything, one mile to the BEACH! Public dock, parks, pond.
Cute cute cute. Kids walk/ride bikes to school every day. After elementary schools (which are right in town), kids go to top-rated Rumson Fair Haven High School, which is only one mile away. Please call me if I can help out...the only downside is price. Avg home sells for $750K, and that's for a decent, nice house on a small lot (50x150).
My phone is 732-450-9245.

grew up in the Marlboro/Manalapan area. So glad I got out when I did. It's now McMansion and strip maill Central with a bunch of posers and want-to-be, new money, Jersylious reality show types.. I have been in the red bank/monmouth beach/fair haven area since 1985, and love it.

Back when I grew up Fair Haven was considered the poor mans Rumson by the snobs....in some respects it still is by comparison. But for WHAT it is, its a great place to be.
