This was either a suicide or a disturbed/confused person entering the train tracks before the train could stop. Not the same as an accident that happens during train operation. So this does not count...
Between highly trained pilots, guessing that all pilots have to go thru health checkups, multi million dollar aircraft, ability to cross oceans easily, etc, I think one should not fear general aviation airplane travel.
Besides, most of built up America looks exactly the same (sans the natural wonders). I take no interest in going to any other city or state in the US, than our own tri-state area! Atleast we have NYC and all the other natural recreational facilities in close or reasonable proximity.
Why NJT can't price their services more reasonably is puzzling though! It is like they don't want people to use public transit.

Well crash statistics clearly show that the "Metal tube' is a lot safer than the driving your car. Again, 700 people were killed on NJ roads with twice or three times as much injured.
On the other hand, the last fatal airline crash was in 2009. Although the rashes of small private planes are a lot more frequent.
