I don't think there are many major Russian enclaves in New Jersey. There are Russians in New Jersey but I believe they are spread out. If you want to go to a real Russian enclave you should go to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn.

Fairlawn = Brooklyn North
Marlboro/Manalapan = Brooklyn South
Short Hills/Millburn = Brooklyn West

All big Russian speaking communities. (Brooklyn colonies)

Russia has many different ethnicities, even more so when it was the Soviet Union. Heck back in the 90s when I still a schoolboy, and Soviet Union only broke up like in 89, I had no idea, there was a Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, or a Belarus. I too used to think they were all russians.

I think so, too, but lol few hipsters.

People usually first think "Jewish" when they hear Fair Lawn (old joke is that the name is because there's a Rosenbloom on every corner), but I married an Irish Catholic from Fair Lawn. There's a sizeable minority of Italians, Irish, and Polish associated with St. Ann's parish.

I bet he was/is a threatened minority in Fair Lawn. Did everyone ask him if he was "Russian" when he told them that he is from Fair Lawn?
