Even Canola Oil, promoted as healthy is actually detrimental to one's health (it's actually Rapeseed oil). There are tons of lies from various industries that promote our deaths. Indeed the cigarette industry is just one more in a long lineup. With that said, fundamentally cigarettes should be disallowed everywhere with the exception of one's own home or car and NOT when young children are present. After all they didn't sign up for it even though unfortunately ignorant parents subject them to a lifetime of probably lung and respiratory problems for the future.

It is a very hard road to legislate health. Most people given the choice don't seem to want it. As for a place like Las Vegas it would be nice if it could be restricted to specific areas. I remember in years past when I worked as a sales rep and had to do trade shows there, I dreaded the visit just because I knew I'd be subjected to all the smoke daily with no options to truly avoid it. I always ended up sick by the time the show was nearly done after several days of exposure. I think the ideal solution would be to restrict it in such a way a person could enjoy Vegas without any smoke exposure IF they wanted to. It has gotten a tad bit easier, but no where near what it should be. I think as time goes on another generation or two the cigarette thing will finally begin to die out. It simply won't enjoy the level of promotion it now still has, and eventually hopefully it will become a thing of the past.

I don't know ANY smokers that I've had conversations with on the subject, that have stated to me if they weren't addicted they would want to smoke. Indeed from what has been said by industry specialists, it is perhaps the MOST addictive drug beyond heroin. Scary when you think of it. There is nothing so strong as a EX smoker that's for sure, because they have gotten past the reality of how nasty it truly is and are not longer "hooked" Oh well, the controversy will go on until it is simply banned in ALL public places, which will happen eventually. I'd suggest to those who can consider it get some help from you doctor in aids to put it all behind you. You'll certainly breath easier, live longer and enjoy the way things taste much better as well. Not to mention you'll smell better to others
lol pages and pages of drivel, Wrong, most smokers in a FREE State do not want to quit, and we quite frankly dont care if you dont like the smell nor do we want to "smell better" for you or anyone like you. Go legislate the food industry, us smokers warned everyone it was next.. good luck getting people to eat "healthy" lol

As an ex smoker (20+ years, 2 packs a day).. I fully support the rights of smokers and businesses who chose to allow smoking. All laws forcing private entities to do anything (as far as I'm concerned) are completely repugnant to founding principles of this country.

And you're right, these people that whine and cajole the Government to ban things they do not like are going to really cry when they come for something they choose to do... Once they take over health care, banning skiing, boating, motorcycling, bicycling, unicycling, rock climbing...leaving your house.. will all be possible in the name of saving you from yourself and saving 'the system' money.
