Hi, we're finally moving down next month and we're be looking for a new bank.Since TD isn't down there. Just looking for a friendly bank with good hours. We will be in the Carolina Forest area {Berkshire Forest}. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx
We bank with First Federal and have been very happy with them. They do have a location in Carolina Forest and several others in the Myrtle Beach area. Many of their locations offer 7 day banking. They also have Moolah Checking, which is now paying 2.51% Annual Percentage Yield on your checking account.
TD Bank is the best! And they will soon have branches here in SC because they just bought Carolina First. I called them a couple of weeks ago and they told me the transition should take place sometime later this summer.

I also still have TD accounts back in NJ. Here I have First Federal (Murrells Inlet), since they have a branch in the local Lowe's Food store. My nephew who works at a TD in Blackwood NJ said that Bank of America is looking to buy TD. I believe there are already BA branches the Myrtle Beach area.
TD is a fine bank. I just hate that ads with Regis and what's her name..... Actually I just hate that pair!
I have a Moolah account with First Federal, too, and have been satisfied with them. They usually have among the best rates for loans, as well. I also use BBT (Coastal Federal prior to takeover) and have been satisfied.
For the TD folks, y'all better hope Bank of America does not take them over. I have found BoA to have poor customer service and much more business than community banking. Their only convenience for me is the many branches they have.

I agree with you baylovers. I also have accounts with BB & T and have been very pleased with them and their service. It's a very friendly place to bank. That Moolah account sounds like a good deal except for having to use the debit card 12 times in a month, etc.
And I really hope that BoA takeover is just a nasty rumor! In my opinion, nothing compares to TD Bank as far as customer service and hours of operation. They are open 7 days a week. And they have a free coin counter machine, which I think BB & T also has. You can just take a whole bag full of coins and drop them in the machine and then go to the counter with a little ticket and get your money in bills or make a deposit into your account. That makes me really wonder about those Coinstar machines you see in the grocery stores where they take a percentage of your money. Who uses them?

I asked my brother who works for B of A (I think he is a VP) about that. I didn't tell him y'all didn't want to see that happen , nor did I tell him I bank with First Federal. He said he knew of no plans for Bank of America to buy TD and he didn't think it was likely, but he did admit anything is possible.

Thanks for the detective work! I couldn't find anything about it when I googled it the other day, either.
