I have been looking for property in South Carolina and see homes in a place called Plantation Lakes with street names Tall Pines Way. The homes look beautiful and seem to be selling way below value. What is the story with this plantation or the homes listed. Can anyone shed some light on this before we take any further action.

Sandi-
Plantation Lakes is a nice, non gated neighborhood in the Carolina Forest area, which is West of the Intracoastal Waterway. The development is approximately 8-10 years old. The architectural style is a little more open than in some other communities in the area. You will find Colonial, LowCountry, Mediterranean and the like in the community.

Realtive to homes selling below value... that's a mere fallicy.. ;-) Value is simply what YOU and the SELLER feel to be appropriate for a given property.. Having said that.. the market here is no different than anywhere else in the country right now. We are in a continued "corrective market" with prices falling in areas and, in some, becoming more stable.

I would STRONGLY suggest you travel to the area, more than once, and ride around, see what the community (not just the development) looks and feels like to you. You're making a major decision and you want to allow yourself the opportunity to make an informed decision.. not one based on what a friend, relative, co worker, Realtor, or the like tries to 'sell' you on. It's YOUR money and YOUR decision.. Best of luck in whatever you determine to do!

(Someone here will disagree with me, but I, personally, like Plantation Lakes, and the Carolina Forest area in general.. but that's just me.. )
