I have a virus on my computer. So I am using my son's laptop, but want my computer back.
My husband is deployed and he is my computer guy!
Does anyone know of a reliable computer person, or somewhere I can bring it to to get fixed that won't rip me off or try and sell me stuff I don't need.
If you're anywhere near the South end of the Strand, I highly recommend Jim Lawrence in Pawleys Island. I can't recall his biz's name, but his # is 235-3525. Very reasonable, very reliable.
If your computer is over 4 years old, that's probably a wise choice. If it's newer than that and otherwise running smooth, IMO it's at least worth talking to somebody. If you know the problem is a virus, they should at least be willing to give you a rough estimate over the phone.
I think you might have answered your own question. In your first post you mentioned that your husband is "your computer person" and then in this last one, you said that he thinks you should get a new computer. So, why not just take your husband's advice?
quote=GJM;8117461]Have not done anything yet. My husband thinks I should just get a new computer for the amount it would probably cost to fix mine.
If my husband was here he could fix my computer no problem, so I am sharing my son's laptop.
I can't decide it I get a new one to get a desk top or laptop.[/quote]
If you are going to buy a new one, now you can compare how you liked your desktop one with how you like your son's laptop. I think you should also consider Mac vs. pc, etc. Hope my comments are helpful!
