Hi all. We are considering a move to the LR area in the next 3 years. We have an in ground pool at our current home. Can in ground pools be built in the LR area? How about surrounding areas? Not sure if there is a water table issue in these areas. Thank you.

Just go for a fiberglass pool, and it can go in anywhere.

Be sure to get it ordered as fast as possible because they're sold out for the year right now. Pool builders never thought that a pandemic would make their business never be better.

(I was in Knoxville last week at the old Sea Ray boat factory at a huge fiberglass pool manufacturer.)

I see in ground pools in communities all over the county. Probably your biggest hindrance is not the water table but the rules of the community you choose. Look VERY carefully at the rules of the community to determine whether you can install a pool (and don't take the agent's word for it...read the actual documents).

Any suggestions on developments that allow them?

Sorry but I do not know which ones do and do not. It's best to start with an agent who should know but, as I said, get a copy of the Covenants and Rules and read through them before buying.

A number of the newer communities have pools as part of the amenities. This was an advantage for us as we did not want the expense of putting in a pool or the maintainance of a pool. The added bonus is that you get to meet the neighbours, a visit to the pool becomes a social event.
