Hi Everyone,
It's Len, the author of the "We Like Conway, I think" thread. We are now South Carolinians. Moved here to Murrells Inlet last September and we're very happy to be here. This area has so much to offer retired or even semi-retired folks and we're taking advantage of all it has to offer.
The only issue we've had to adapt to is the allergy season which is a bit heavier here than it was in Jersey.
We got a golf cart and are located about a mile from Garden City Beach and try to get over there as often as possible.
Right now, with this Virus thing that's going on we've got a lot more leisure time than we'd like to have but we're trying to stay healthy and wait it out so we can get back to normal soon.
This forum has done so much for me from an information perspective and I just wanted to say thank you to all the folks who took the time to answer all the questions I had back when we were feeling our way through.
I got a PM from a guy today asking the same kinds of questions I had back then and I was so happy to have the ability and the opportunity to play forward the kindness I received here from you all.
Thank you all again.

Regards,
Len

Can I asked where in Murrells Inlet you chose? Hoping to make the same move in the next 15 months.

Good for you! I am jealous! We are in northern NJ and updating our house with the intent of listing it before the end of May. We too are looking in the Murrells Inlet area, and appreciate the folks on this forum with their knowledge. We were hoping to be down that way about this time and looking around to buy, but we might have to skip on that and do a short term rental based on what happens with this virus.

Yay! We love Murrells Inlet too. Rented in Surfside Beach for about eight months and have been here four years. I remember the thread you started. Love to see the sequels to posts.

When I move there I will be paying taxes, shopping in the stores, and participating in SC life. I hope I will be welcomed accordingly.

Welcome! We moved from NJ in 2017, in the Carolina Forest area. Don’t forget to do your permanent resident as soon as it’s possible & once you’re here a full calendar year, get your senior property tax discount. Also see if you can get a hold of an Attractions book. It’s $20 & worth every penny. It has discounts for lots of restaurants & attractions.
