I have already asked about bugs now I need to know about flood insurance. We are in an X flood zone or low risk area. We asked our home insurance company for a quote for flood insurance, but I want to get a couple of quotes. They said through a private insurer is the most competitive option. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Flood insurance is sold through insurance agents but is a federal program. The cost is the same no matter who you get it through.

Thank you. I called one company that said they offer it through a private insurer. The rate was higher and the replacement cost and deductible were different than the other 2 quotes which were the same. That threw me off. They also could provide it within 10 days whereas the govt. insurance takes 30 days.

It’s sold through FEMA. Costs are same for everyone. I think it’s about $475 for the year.
