We ended up going to relatives in Florida tuesday at noon. We drove down 17, there was no traffic. We drove back on Monday got here at 2. A small section of 17 past litchfield was flooded, only one side of the road, there was a 2 mile delay, no big deal. there was no traffic all the way from florida. The next storm I would leave the day after the storm if possible to avoid any potential flooding. Most of my long time neighbors stayed, but as newbies I'm glad we left. We didn't have to worry about losing power, flooding, damage or listening to the wind for hours.

Planning on heading to Murrells Inlet from NJ Saturday. There is no reported flooding in our community (Park West) but I am wondering about what we might face getting there. Hopefully Goggle Maps (on my phone) will be up-to-date with any detours.
We evacuated to Atlanta even though we were not in an evacuation zone. Just got back to Myrtle Beach yesterday. 501 was definitely packed and had delays but all in all was not that bad and doable. Pretty wild to see businesses and homes standing in water while driving back on 501 (we were in a Class A Motorhome so we could see over the barricades holding back the water).
Just be sure to pack your patience on the way back. From what I understand the water could continue to rise through the end of this week.
