Was really shocked at how bad the grand strand area is on being so "anti-dog", the worst place I have ever lived in as far as that is concerned, esp. when I always see a ton of dogs, on the beach, and everywhere else. They need to take a look at San Diego and learn a few things.
What a surprising estimation of the area- I would say just the opposite as we see dogs everywhere, and accommodations for them at many restaurants and other businesses.
Quite frankly, I don't really want to see dogs on the beach during peak hours, and I don't ever want to see unleashed dogs on the beach....I spend a good bit of time there and I can attest to the fact that many owners live in a fantasy world regarding the "friendliness" of their pets; not to mention the owners' assumption that dog poop on the beach need not be removed....yuck.
And you need to remember that this area is the home/breeding ground of several endangered species which need to be protected from pets and people, which is not the case in the area of California you mentioned. It seems to me that rather than being anti-dog, the area is actually practicing environmental stewardship.
Agree absolutely busydesk. And I'm a three-dog owner!

The area is not "anti-dog"..but many rental units are....animals make a mess (no, not all the time, but often!!!!) and landlords don't want to deal with that!
