This past winter was my first winter here, so it's all I have to base my opinion on. It's not the blustery cold of the NE, but colder than I had anticipated. Rainy, grey and low 50's, for me, were a tad miserable. It honestly didn't start getting nice, mid 60's and sun, until mid to end of April- much later than I had anticipated.

This past was not the coldest winter we have experienced in SC (since 2009), but it was one of the more rainy and dreary. Again, it is a short(er) winter, but SC has winter.
Just a quick question. What is Myrtle Beach like in November. Planning a trip there. Is it too cold to get in the ocean?
Hi Chickrae. While November can be very nice (usually with highs in the 60's), I would say it would be too cold to get in the ocean. It still can be very nice for other things.

Thanks for the info. That's the week my son's timeshare is but I would of chosen a little bit earlier in the year but it was all booked up. I guess coming from the beginning of a Utah cold season, I might chance it and get in the ocean.
Funny how post #5 said it's gray and dreary, while post #8 said the sun is always shining in winter.
Well, I must say that this winter was the worst I remember in eleven years. It was long and dreary....I wouldn't say grey. Grey I reserve for the states up north that have not much greenery around. We have plenty palms and flowers that do remain in the winter. Yes! Jasmine and pansies are two of the flowers that are here in the coldest winter months.
Some of our winters were so much better. There were winters when it was in the 80's on New Years Day! Winters which 60's and 70's were to be had the entire time.
This past winter is one to chalk off the list. But, I have to note that much of the US had a strange winter this year.
So the fact that someone said, " the sun is always shining in winter." can be quite accurate. It certainly shines a lot, and most winters are a joy.
Anyone spending last winter here may have an entirely different opinion, and that I can understand.
