I am fascinated with the history of the "low country" and would like to get suggestions for resources to learn more about my new home region.
I am aware of, but have yet to visit, the Rice and the Georgetown County museums in the town of Georgetown, and I've registered for a tour of Hobcaw Barony. I'd like to know if there are any tours or exhibits that are favored by those of you who are either long-time residents or native residents of the area, and if you have any books to recommend- particularly those dealing with the Rice and Indigo businesses during the height of the plantation era, but really anything from the 1700's into the 20th century would be great.
I'm a member of OLLI, so if anyone has a high regard for any of the history classes offered through that organization, or if there is another "continuing ed." opportunity you know about, I'm interested to find out about those too.
Thanks for your input!

There is a lot of NC/SC history broadcast on the SC PBS station and, I believe, another government sponsored channel at the high end of the TWC basic cable channel broadcasts.
If you're into golf and the history of Myrtle Beach golf there's the book "Jimmy D'Angelo and Myrtle Beach Golf".
