Is it pretty safe to swim in the intracostal waterway? Do a lot of people jet-ski on it? Is there anything i need to be aware of while doing so?

Swimming not recommended in the ICW due to locally strong currents. Jet skiing OK.

Depends how far you can go on a tank of gas. Can you make it to Little River & back? If so go north to the Little River Inlet and take it out to near the ocean & park there by the rock jetty. Bird Island will be to the left you can swim in the ocean there.

I would see people jet-ski several times all day when I lived near the banks, saw a few swimmers, but I personally wouldn't.
