Could someone summarize the rules on using golf carts on streets?

For future needs,I would like to identify communities where one can safely use the golf cart within the community and also get to the parking lot of a grocery store. So far I have found a couple:

1. The Woodlake Village area of Murrells Inlet, where you can find condos and single family homes. I am also counting the nearby Jensen's mobile home community.

2. Carillon at Tuscany in the Forestbrook area of Myrtle Beach.

Does anyone know of any other?

In Surfside Beach, you can easily and safely ride around on a golf cart, if you use common sense. There isn't much car traffic at all. We use ours all the time and are careful to pull to the side when we do see a car coming up behind us in order to let them pass. We do avoid driving our cart on Ocean Dr. and Surfside Dr. but the other streets usually do not have much car traffic.

If you need to get to a grocery store, they are all on the other side of 17, so it is best to cross only at a traffic light and use caution even with the light.

The other good thing about Surfside Beach is that if you are a town resident you can go to town hall and get a parking pass for your golf carts and your cars which entitles you to park in any spot or meter for free within the town limits. The car stickers are good for one year and the golf cart stickers are good for 2 years. They are both easy to renew when the time comes.

You can now drive your golf cart within a 4 mile radius of where you live/where the cart is registered.
