Hi All,

I travel each week for work. I am able to work remote when I am not traveling. I am considering locating to the Myrtle Beach area.

How is the Myrtle Beach airport to travel from on business? I see they do not have early morning flights (5 - 6 am to make a connecting flight at a hub airport). That is probably ok as I could fly out Sunday afternoon and be rested for my Monday meetings.

Anyhow - any feedback good or bad? The good for me is to be at Myrtle Beach and near an airport.

The good is, even though it expanded it's still a small airport and easy to get around compared to hubs or larger airports. You didn't mention where you would be traveling to, if it's one destination or will you be traveling to several. Either way, sometimes it's not that easy. You may have to catch a connecting flight and the other problem is sometimes they cancel flights and only give a days notice. I know all this because my husband works for United and commutes to EWR for work every other week.

Thanks. I will be traveling to different locations every week. I figure I will always be connecting via Atlanta or Charlotte. Typical is to fly out Sunday afternoon and return Thursday night.

Charleston is not out of your realm of potential, even in MB. You may be able to work between the two comfortably- we do.

The new terminal is nice & will be nicer once they get some more retail space rented. Parking is a breeze and they run the shuttle (golf carts) frequently. I have never had much of a problem with the TSA security lines. Make sure you keep clear of Spirit Airlines if you need to make any connecting flights! Notoriously delayed especially late in the day.

I used to log about 100,000 miles a year with US Airways out of Myrtle Beach and it was great.

Basically you need to decide whether or not you want to connect in Atlanta with Delta or Charlotte with US Air. I absolutely despise ATL so I went with Charlotte. The Charlotte airport is very easy to connect.

The greatest thing about traveling out of Myrtle Beach (skip Charleston, it is much smaller than Myrtle Beach and way out of the way), is that the gate agents get to know you by name and I have been upgraded on multiple occaisions by them.

One time they actually held the plane for my husband and I on the 6:05AM flight as we were running late. The second we got to our seats, the plane pushed back.
