Hi all. I'm a paving contractor from PA and I used to winter in MB back in the mid 2000's. I limited my work in your area to just asphalt sealing and line painting. I'd usually come down for a couple months, rent a condo, and do a few parking lots here and there that I could get. I was pretty laid back about it, not trying to make a killing, just justifying the expenses of the trip and getting some rays in the meantime. Anyway, I kind of abandoned the Grand Strand a few years ago as a winter destination, as it appeared everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) was broke, and could not afford my services. No use dragging down equipment for nothing right? The last time I was down there was in 2010, and I didn't bother staying longer than a month.
Just curious if things have improved. I'd love to winter there again someday, but I'd like to at least break even on the trip if I'm gonna stay a couple of months. I really liked MB and would like to return someday, however until I'm retired (not for another 30 years probably), any "snowbird" trips for me must include enough work to justify the expense. I'm a bit of a workaholic too though I'll admit.
