Title Loan Storefronts (Little River: loans, stores, area)

Is there a link between the economy and all these new title loan stores opening up? Is there a certain demographic that draws them? We are in Little River and it seems that at least 4 buildings here have new title loan businesses in them. I don't know much about title loans, what circumstances would one want one?

I wonder if these title loan stores do any actual business. There are too many of them statewide.

It is a sign of the times and this area is quite depressed even there will be those to say otherwise....these along with the Advance America Loan Centers to a phenomenal business here....

I posted this on South Carolina board to get more replies and from some of the replies, this sounds like a sleazy business. Unless someone has anything positive, it's been mostly negative views of this business. One even replied that the industry is a major political donor in our state.
