Hello everyone, my family will be visiting the beautiful Grand Strand next week. Is a 40% to 60% chance of rain normal for this time of year? Or is it just typical thunderstorm activity in the afternoon? Thanks in advance.
We were at the beach 7/27-8/3 and that's about the chance we had. Usually its afternoon storms so if you get out early you'll likely be okay. However, a tropical system may be on the way!
I live in the Upstate of SC (Greenville) and we have already had our yearly rainfall plus 20+ inches. It's definitely wetter than normal up here.
Definitely not the summer of last year where it was near 100 frequently. However, good news is that it is spotty. Sometimes it rains one place and not another. Many times it is a quick rain and not time-consuming at all.
Then again, today looks like an all day affair.
If you get one of those kind of days, head to the Market Commons theaters as that area is a joy to visit and the shops and restaurants will also keep you busy. Visiting the Aquarium is also a good rainy day choice.
I have to say that many times the weather channel has this area having rain and it winds up mostly inland and not at the beach.
Hoping you have a great time.
Okay you lucky beach folks...I want everyone to stand on the shore and blow those rains WEST to Texas. We could sure use the rain here in drought country!
You are in luck...that tropical storm is expected to fall apart before it would be a threat to our coast! We had the same luck coming up on our trip. A storm popped up in the Atlantic and we watched and watched as it fell apart as well!
