I've unfortunately found myself involved in a car accident. The accident was not my fault. It should be a fairly straight forward claim filed on the at-fault driver's insurance, but of course they are dragging the process out and making it difficult. I suspect that I will not see a prompt resolution unless I engage an attorney that specializes in car accidents. Can anyone recommend a good attorney? Thanks.

If you wait they will contact you. Dont forget that if your car is damaged so you can not drive it safely the other parties insurance has to pay for you a temporary rental. Give the insurance company several days to contact you. If they are liable they MUST contact you. You have plenty of time to settle so dont hire an attorney too quickly. Unless you have a personal injury most attorneys wont touch your case anyway unless YOU pay them.

Thanks for the info crestliner. There is no personal injury, just property damage. They have already deemed the car total loss. They covered a rental for 5 days and said they wouldn't cover more after it was deemed totaled - but they've yet to offer a settlement. So I'm without a settlement and without a rental. It's been six weeks since the accident.

The insurance companies know there is little you can do to make them hurry. I would send them a registered letter and tell them that the delay in settlement is costing you unnecessary expenses and unless you can get the matter resolved quickly you WILL SEEK LEGAL COUNCIL. I promise you they will respond within hours once they get the letter. Any time you send a registered letter a company will know you are starting the legal documentation that may cause them big legal problems if they ignore you..good luck
