I plan on spending next winter (6 months) in SC as a "snow bird" spending 50% of my time there. I will be maintaining my PA residence and drivers license but want to have a "local" ID to take advantage of lower golf rates for locals. Could I get a state issued ID based on showing them a 6 month lease?

Go to this site: SC Department of Motor Vehicles

And go to the section on Identification Cards. I think it will tell you everything you need to know. Proof of residency is going to be the key (which is defined within the proper identification link).

If you are a PA resident, you are not a local. Why do you think you should get locals rates?

Regardless, it's unlikely you can legally obtain a SC ID. Page 2 of <This Document> specifies the documentation required to establish SC residency for the sake of a Personal ID. My advice is to carry your 6-month lease with you and ask for the discount. Many places will give it to you rather than endure the abuse.

If you're looking for golf discounts, the golf Passport card is pretty good. My husband has already saved more than the card cost after only two rounds, and it's no longer limited to locals only. Good luck!

You are a USA citizen I assume? No offense but we got people trying funny stuff with fake IDs you know.
