Myrtle Beach is the first city in SC to add another county from another state (NC) or at least be the anchor city in SC and to another county in another state. Brunswick has been added. It is no longer apart of the Wilmington Metro Area.
MSA: metropolitan statistical area
CSA: combined statistical area
Basically, Brunswick County is now in Myrtle Beach's MSA because at least 25% of its workforce commutes into Horry County for employment. The CSA extends to Georgetown County. It includes the MSA counties of Horry and Brunswick. However, CSA counties have at least 15% but no more than 25% of their workforce commuting into the core county/counties for employment.

Ok. I learn something. Not sure what it means for the individual, but I'm sure the politicians and civil planners need to know......
Why is Georgetown County not a part of the Myrtle Beach MSA? Wasn't it a part of the MSA before this recent realignment? Georgetown sits between two large MSA's yet doesn't get included in either one, interesting.
