I enjoyed Westgate...we were in one of the newer remodeled rooms. We did not stay at Westgate this year because the room size we wanted was booked...so we decided on Sea Watch after much thinking:/ I think we are going to stay away from Myrtle for a little while, check out someplace else a little more welcoming Thank you for your suggestion, if we decide to go back I will surely look into that

$25/day or $150/wk... yeah what a deal breakeer... pppfffttttt
seriously to, NMB/MB had to step in and curb the umbrellas/pop up tents, if the lifeguards cant see what they need to see, they cant do their job and yes, the fees help finance the lifeguards. as a member of the public safety community, this is beyond petty, this is absurd to pour so much energy into such an issue. it helps the city manage its budget, it helps the lifeguards do their job.... IT KEEPS PEOPLE SAFE
Last year was my first visit to Myrtle Beach and it took me just a few minutes to figure out the chair situation. I had my own chair and umbrella and i was allowed to set it up either in the same line as the rentals or behind them The rentals are in line with the lifeguard stands so that they are able to see all of the water. If I wanted to be closer to the water, I was welcome to move my chair, but my umbrella had to stay in line or behind the rentals. A lot of the time, the chairs are in small groups according to who is renting them and there is room between the groups. I watched the lifeguards set them up every morning from my balcony and it's a lot of work! We plan to rent the chairs this year. We have two little ones coming with us and will be dragging enough gear without worrying about chairs. It will be nice to be able to come and go all day and know my seat will be waiting for me.
We stay at North Beach Plantation every year and we have noticed the same issue.
Here's what we do....wait until 5pm or whenever it is that the lifeguards remove the umbrellas and chairs from the beach. Then you have the whole beach to yourself and can set up anywhere you want.
Another good thing about NBP is that a little way down the beach on the right hand side (if looking at the beach from the hotel towers) they don't set up the chairs at all.
It's simple folks. It's a tale as old as time. Money$$. Your umbrella is not taller than theirs, they are just forcing you to give them money. On a public beach, with them sitting in a 10' tower you are not blocking them from rescuing anyone from the water if needed. The Russian Mafia is taking over the businesses and life guards and profiting any way it can and they are buying the politicians as well. Morals are not in the blood of any of our politicians anymore and one day it will be too late to save us from outsiders. China and Russia will own us and we will become a socialist economy before you know it. Red Dawn!!
In Jersey people are setting 10 x 10 am 12 x 12 tents. It disgusting and arrogant. MB I am comming soon.
