Does anyone know who I would contact to request a "no litter" sign? My street is off another street that leads to a boat launch and the guys are always throwing trash out the window. I don't get it I guess it's too hard to wait until they see a trash can.

Between the gun shooting, dog neglect and the slobs, I may have to start drinking heavily to deal.

Hey Rapture -

There are very few problems that a good rum & ativan cocktail won't cure.

My gut tells me that your best chance of seeing a sign in our lifetime is by calling/emailing your county council member. If you can get him/her fired up, and if he/she has any connections, then maybe, just maybe.. Horry County Council emails

I believe that SC DOT handles all regulatory signs, but I'm not sure if that also includes no littering signs. They have an online maintenance request form that includes "Sign - Additional Sign". It would be interesting to see if/how they respond.

Good luck. If you're successful, let me know. I want to request a "no teenagers" sign for our street.

LOL, I'd like that sign too...I forgot to add the four wheelers that go up and down my street for hours.

If you don't get any satisfaction asking them to put up a sign, you may want to find out what the rules are for you putting up your own (and maybe having others on your street do the same). No littering signs can be purchased online fairly inexpensively. You would just have to find out if it is against your town, or the counties, law to put one up.

I hate to be a pessimist, but do you really think a sign will prevent folks form littering? I think only enforcement & more trash cans will change your situation.

That's ok and I thought the same thing. I Just thought I would start with that and I only think if the sign says they will get a fine it would help at all. You would think they would care about their own state or town and not litter.
