So, finally, our house should be on the market this week. Our realtor is optimistic that our house is the type that is selling right now. We have jobs that we are taking with us - all set to make our move to MB soon.

My next step is to find out about the music scene down there. I have been a front person/lead singer for a classic rock band here for years. Wondering if bands or duos do better there, covers or originals, and if anyone has any insight on the musician community or how to get the word out when the time comes that I am looking. And I don't mean Craigslist - the musician site there is a joke, bunch of people whining at each other. If MB is anything like here, most (good) musicians kind of know each other and there is a decent grapevine for info, if you know where to go.

Opinions? Insight? Thanks!

I can't really give you a lot of personal experience, but I know a lot of bars and restaurants here are always looking for entertainment. I do have some music experience, and minored in music, and it seems most places around here are looking for a Buffett or beach type act, however there are a lot of bands in the area playing classic rock! If you are a good vocalist, there is a great community theatre in Conway that is always holding auditions, my wife was lead in a couple of their shows a while back, and I did their sound design for a couple of years!

Have you tried Charleston? They always have some sort of music stuff going on. My BIL is a musician and I can pretty much tell ya, he wouldn't touch MB with a 10 foot pole. Unless, of course, you can be "lucky" enough to get into one of the major show arenas here and play for them.

Oh, my! You're in for a treat! North Myrtle Beach is the home of "beach music"....Band of Oz, Craig Woolard Band (CWB), Jim Quick and Coastline, The Embers, Tim Clark Band.....and many, many more! These bands rock! They play some "beach" music, but lots of rock, a touch of country....good, classic stuff...most of which you'll be familiar with.
You need to check it out...these bands are super-duper!
To get a feel for what they play (and bear in mind that this station will play some older music that is NOT indicative of what the bands play...) go online to 949thesurf.com and listen to the local beach music station.
