In the comics, animation...?[/quote]

I believe it was in animation. I remembered it had Dr. Fate in it.

I know little about Dr. Strange but it looks really interesting. I hope one day they get to Moon Knight who was also a mystical type hero. Great time for comic fans with so many films coming out.

He's every where because he's so good. I remember the rumors when Marvel said they wanted to do this movie. Being a fan of this comic I wasn't able to think of anyone for this role when I heard that they casted Cumberpatch I knew he was perfect.

Looks a little too on the nose with being a mix of an Inception knock-off with Matrix mixed in to me but I'll give it time. Perhaps it is just this trailer.

Sadly this is true, Hollywood does this a lot. I remember people over doing the Matrix special effects until I was just sick of it.

Well yeah, because executives look and see movies and ask directors and producers and say "we want X in this film." We talked about Venom being that in Spider-Man 3 in the past and pretty sure the Sinister Six stuff in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was that too. The bullet-time and other effects from The Matrix, I don't recall in too many films because they didn't always fit. I think Wanted did but it worked in that film (even if it was just good.)

I saw someone complaining that it looked too much like Batman Begins and honestly, that is more of a trope of going to the eastern world that the protagonist (and perhaps an antagonist also) come to looking to learn the ways of an ancient way (League of Shadows in Begins and the mystic arts in Strange.) On the small screen, we'll likely see it again on Netflix's Marvel's Iron Fist series.
