Wish the mountaineer mall would be torn down and redeveloped. Seems like a mix-used development including upscale apartments, office buildings, and shopping would be a good idea. Seems like a huge waste of flat land close to downtown and I-68.

Thanks, I just drove past there the other day (rarely on that side of town anymore) and was wondering what it was.

I saw a sign about a new full-service carwash underway at UTC next to Chick-Fil-A.

This is actually very exciting, since there is only one in the county - although It happens to be right down the street.

It looks like construction may have started on the Steak n' Shake planned for Monagahela BLVD, which is very exciting.
"Finger Foods" - a restaurant specializing in chicken, shrimp, and fish, has opened with limited hours in Downtown Morgantown.
"The Cereal Bar" has unfortunately closed on High Street.
"Ascend WV" has done a great job revitalizing a building in Downtown Morgantown next to a brewery.
Beechurst Avenue widening appears to be well underway.

I wonder what is holding back new development in West Ridge, I don't think anything has announcements have been made since Owens & Minor last year.

I think it is strange that Drury Inn is holding off, hotels go for unbelievably high rates in WV, and Morgantown is no exception. It is already guaranteed to sale out a minimum of 8 weekends a year.

It's crazy how quickly they are building and opening new car washes all around the country. It's not like its a new thing, but for some reason or another they're trending.

That’s the problem with Higher Ed administration. FAR TOO MANY folks that have never worked in the real world and have no real working world concepts. They expect and endless bucket of money from both state and federal levels.

Having worked in both I can tell you that upper level salaries are insanely inflated but work effort and ethic is the complete opposite.

What you have being the glue allowing these schools to run are middle-level over-worked people that are now retiring in droves or escaping for better paying and less work private sector jobs.

On the low level it’s a complete fiasco. Folks that can’t deal with the complexity and strain of the complexity and expectations that the high level folks can’t begin to fathom.

The schools will cut these middle-level folks and expect more out of the ones not cut.

I’ve been telling people the last couple of years that we are on the verge of a higher ed administration crisis as the people who are capable of doing the work are saying see ya and going else where.

Yet somehow coaches and athletes make millions. It’s a perverted mess.
