That’s the problem with Higher Ed administration. FAR TOO MANY folks that have never worked in the real world and have no real working world concepts. They expect and endless bucket of money from both state and federal levels.
Having worked in both I can tell you that upper level salaries are insanely inflated but work effort and ethic is the complete opposite.
What you have being the glue allowing these schools to run are middle-level over-worked people that are now retiring in droves or escaping for better paying and less work private sector jobs.
On the low level it’s a complete fiasco. Folks that can’t deal with the complexity and strain of the complexity and expectations that the high level folks can’t begin to fathom.
The schools will cut these middle-level folks and expect more out of the ones not cut.
I’ve been telling people the last couple of years that we are on the verge of a higher ed administration crisis as the people who are capable of doing the work are saying see ya and going else where.
Yet somehow coaches and athletes make millions. It’s a perverted mess.
