New restaurants and at least one new hotel are planned, along with numerous new businesses. Local officials believe the potential is there for further development all along the Interstate between exits 152 and 155, while on the other side of the Interstate the new ballpark and other businesses will be developed at University Town Center.
I79 from Washington, PA to the I68 split is very busy. Having those two exits there along with the development along that three miles will bring in a tremendous amount of transient business. Westover will be the major benefactor.
Westover will make out in the near future but I am concerned for what happens when there are thousands of people living in neighborhoods to the west of the interstate. The cost of those neighborhoods (which will likely be in Westover boundaries by then) will offset any earnings from these new shopping centers). My point, bigger isn't always better, and I would have preferred this town actually discussed issues rather than just making announcements of deals.
My understanding is the developers are committing to developing the infrastructure in place as things proceed. It could actually be better than having new developments take place in established areas.

Like Jerry Dove Drive, private development is good at building to meet traffic demands.
Actually, Jerry Dove is well planned and has the proper infrastructure.
I know, thats what Im saying
Charles Point and White Oaks both traffic friendly and well though out for future demand. Thats what I'm saying the proposed exit in Mtown should consider when allowing private companies to develope around it.
That's good. Now Westover can have more of a tax base.
I wonder if Morgantown has ever tried to annex the Glenmark Center into city limits. It's a good size shopping plaza with a couple of hotels and shops.

I believe that is the plan, but remember, the City of Morgantown has nothing to do with this. It is outsiide the city limits, as is most of the development.
