I was wondering what others living in the Monterey Bay area think about the East Garrison (East Garrison: New Homes and Commercial Space at former Fort Ord in Monterey Area) and the Dunes on Monterey Bay (The Dunes) developments happening near Marina. As a a soon-to-be new teacher living in Marina, I am excited by the developments if I might be able to get affordable housing in them. What do you think? I imagine there are negative feelings out there/

PS- I am a new poster so I posted this question in the San Jose forum as well. (https://www.city-data.com/forum/san-j...ml#post4385975)

How far out do you think it will be until homes are actually available? Our family may be moving out there soon.

I am not sure when the houses will be completed. I wish they would be available soon, also! I have a feeling though that it is a few years off. I heard somewhere that the development had slowed because of the general US housing and economic issues.

If you check out the links I provided in the first post you may find more information on when the houses will be finished. Both websites provide sign up lists so you can be informed as things happens.
