Most folks who don't want a lot of exercise still like visiting the area and seeing the sights. You should go to places like Point Lobos, for example. If you want minimum exercise you could drive into the park and then only walk short distances from your car to see things.

Also, go to the aquarium. That is always enjoyable especially if you've never been before. You could go on the water and take a whale watching tour.

You'll have more than enough to see and do simply driving around Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. Definately plan to take many pictures. One of the most beautiful beaches is Pfeiffer Beach. https://localadventurer.com/pfeiffer...le-sand-beach/

Thanks!

You could also take a leisurely paddle in Moss Landing or the Monterey Bay. Rent a kayak or paddle board and see all the sea life and scenery from the water. No need to kill yourself with exercise to do that. If you don't actually want to go in the water you could still see the sea otters and wildlife from the shore. Here's a shot from the shore in Moss Landing.

You should ask Mountain Surfer about the purple sand beach in the area. You can drive into the park, then it's a pleasant walk from there to the beach. I don't know if this will add too much time to your brief 2-day trip, but it would be worth seeing, and enjoying a couple of hours in nature, if you could manage it without too much scheduling stress.

Here you go. Pfeiffer Beach.

P.S. Next time, for best results, don't wait til the last minute to ask us for traveling advice. Enjoy your weekend, and let us know afterwards, how you enjoyed it.

Hi. I am back. Thanks to all who helped with the places. I've enjoyed my time there. Carmel is a heaven, Monterey is OK at least to me. Bixby Bridge is OK, but the view is awesome.

Frankly, I liked Santa Cruz more, especially the sunset from there.

Peace.

I agree; I LOVE Santa Cruz! Especially the promenade along West Cliff Drive (check it out, next visit Along with Big Basin redwood park, or Henry Cowell park). It sounds like you didn't make it to the purple sand beach? Oh well--saved for the next weekend excursion! Are you hooked, yet?

In Marina area, make sure you see where the hundreds of sea lions hang out at Moss Landing. Turn in by the Mexican restaurant and follow the road to the end. The sea lions are usually on the beach there, and swimming in the inlet.
Lots of sea otters too!

I hope you are a good driver - the Big Sur drive is nerve wracking! October is a good time though, less busy than summer.

October is a slower time so you may want to stay right in Monterrey (lots of small hotels there) or in the hotel at Lovers Point in Pacific Grove. These are more central locations than Marina (and that time of year, you can get similar prices). I have stayed at Borg's Ocean Front Hotel and it was nice...very basic but fine, and a safe area! You are right across the street from the prettiest walk, along the shore by Lovers point (google the images).

I would stay around Monterey, Carmel & Big Sur the whole time....will be very relaxing. Be careful by the water as the sea is treacherous in that area.
