Given that the bypass will be right by, I don't the issue in also making a rest stop since it seems to be a well traveled highway for tourists

You’re right, I live in San Antonio and was driving with my father-in-law and made a commit on a sign in SA that has “Six Mile Creek” I said what a weird name. His response was Detroit (he is from that area) has one too it means six miles from downtown.

So I'm curious as to why the city doesn't host a massive Downtown Christmas Parade. Definitely think it would be great attraction especially if it could be hyped like regular Mardi Gras. Very Mardi Gras-ish, maybe employ some of the Mardi Krewes to build a float or two (or renevate a float).

Think it would great to advertise to potential tourists along with Christmas Lights of Lights and Bellingrath Garden, almost like a bundle deal, for a jam-packed weekend

I agree. They used to host a downtown Christmas parade, but I think it was cut in the mid 2010s due to budget issues.
