Supposedly their huge expansion nationwide includes Mobile.

ALDIs is (or was) a good store for ALTERNATE FOOD..

Now even they are having thier food messed with! (Lower sodium, lower sugar, skim milk,etc......) Its all very sad...... For years I didnt realise they had stuff I LOVED and only started going there a year or so BEFORE stuff started being changed

It would be a nice addition to the grocery scene, given the rapid influx of "cost plus" stores and Walmarts ever since Bruno's and Food World finally went away. Plus, their roots go back the same family that owns Trader Joe's! (Aldi split into two companies after a dispute over selling cigarettes...Aldi Nord serves half of Europe and owns Trader Joe's, and Aldi Sud controls the other half and the US Aldi stores)

I've been in a couple, and have been pretty satisfied with their offerings.

THEY CHANGED THE RECIPE!!!!!!!

They added CARAMEL COLOR AND VEGETABLE JUICE POWDER...... Probably tastes like crap!!!!

THIER ICED TEA WAS THE ONLY KIND I COULD FIND W/O CARAMEL COLOUR AND I LOVED IT!!!!!!!

Aldis is turning to garbage just like all the other stores!!!

There were many Aldi stores where I came from and my sister kept telling me how great they were. I tried them once and it wasn't for me because there were few name brands (I like some generic labels but that's mostly what Aldi had) and it wasn't like any other grocery store I'd been to. The store I was in (maybe they've changed) had low tables with stacks of stuff on it in the original original cases, not arranged nicely on shelves. You have to bring your own bags for your items or pay them for plastic bags to carry your items out of the store, there are no carts or maybe you have to pay to use them like you do at the airport. I think the store I was in didn't even take credit/debit cards, you had to pay with a check or cash. I don't remember a bakery, deli or meat counter; no pharmacy or in-store bank as many grocery stores have. Not everyone needs all those amenities, but I never went back to Aldi. Maybe they've upgraded themselves and if they build stores in Mobile they will be successful.

I do not understand the draw to these stores. I've been to a few of them and they are nothing special and actually not cost effective. They just built a new one in a town near me and it seems to attract an older crowd (we live near a VERY large retirement community). Not that it is a bad thing, I just don't see the appeal.
