Detroit Lakes is about as conservative as a city gets in MN. Move to Alabama if you're worried about the high quality of education, parks, fortune 500 headquarters, and major athletics that call the twin cities home.

Honest opinion- stay away from the Twin cities metro. The entire thing. That includes all of the outer suburbs and commuter cities.

I was told Met Council has housing projects in the works for Edina, Plymouth and Forest Lake by someone on another platform recently. My friend lives in St Michael and told me whatever county he’s in is out of the met council. His taxes are noticeably less then Rogers which is next door.

My met council taxes are $87 on a $500k house. Unless your friend has a 20,000,000 house, that's not "noticable".
