You could stay on an island downtown, Nicollet Island Inn, but Uber and walking would be needed.

If this looks like the OP's idea of a good time, staying downtown is the answer. I wouldn't.

This city's a mess and the cops aren't allowed to do anything without being perceived as the bad guys by the media and the city "leaders". The local riot crowd are just waiting for new opportunities to tear the city apart.

I was in Bloomington this week before moving up north. The complex of hotels near the MOA(which is impressive BTW) aren't too bad, even as you head a bit west on American Ave where the lower budget motels are.
